Three female researchers from BGU have been awarded scholarships from the Zuckerman STEM Leadership Program and will continue to postdoctoral studies in prestigious universities in the US.

The scholarship was awarded to 11 researchers under the auspices of the Zuckerman-CHE Outstanding Israeli Female Postdoctoral Program, which provides scholarships for up to two years to Israeli women PhDs who have been accepted to a postdoctoral program at an American or Canadian university.​

Among them :  Dr. Anat Yaskolka Meir who will study at Harvard.

Dr. Anat Yaskolka Meir, from BGU's Department of Epidemiology, is a member of Prof. Iris Shai's research group, which has found that the green Mediterranean Diet doubles the rate of intrahepatic fat loss and is much more effective than other diets in treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

The Zuckerman STEM Leadership Program is partnered by its partners: Israel's Council for Higher Education, and many universities in the US and Israel. Their selection committee, who guides the application process, encourages diversity, and helps govern the selection of scholars. They, their partners, and scholars implement Mort Zuckerman's vision.​ 

Candidates for the Zuckerman STEM Leadership Programs are assessed based on academic and research achievements, as well as personal merit and leadership qualities. Preference is given to those in STEM fields, including computer science, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, life sciences, and medicine.​
