The Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Community Health Sciences is a major research and teaching node at the Faculty of Health Sciences, providing a synergistic environment for multidisciplinary science and education in the fields of epidemiology, gerontology, biostatistics and nutrition. The Department strives to promote and enhance quality of life in Israel and abroad and to utilize its knowledge and experience to influence policy makers, service providers, and caregivers on behalf of the public.
The Department offers graduate programs in Public Health, Gerontology, and Epidemiology. In addition, it provides courses in epidemiology, biostatistics, and other public health topics to undergraduate and graduate programs throughout the Faculty of Health Sciences, as well as various short programs sponsored by the Ministry of Health and other organizations.
Research in the Department focuses on the fields of nutrition and chronic disease epidemiology, maternal and child health, disease prevention and health promotion, perinatal and reproductive epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, genetic epidemiology and environmental epidemiology. Thanks to the Department's innovative research and expertise in policy analysis, it is currently considered the nation's leading organization dedicated to improving and protecting health in the community.
