Islamic legal institutions, mainly the formative stage of the Hanbali madhhab (schools of law). Alongside their legal activities, the Hanbalis articulated theological concepts and moral values. My studies examinc these intellectual activities and the social processes that led to the evolvement of the Hanbali madhhab.
