Overview

The Department of Virology and Developmental Genetics is the newest department in the Faculty of Health Sciences, with a majority of junior faculty members. It maintains active research programs in known and emerging diseases, immuno-based therapeutics, human genetic diseases, and the genetic regulation of vertebrate development. While covering a wide range of research topics, there is a high degree of interdisciplinary collaboration within the department and with research programs both in the developed and developing world. The department also remains in close research contact with the clinical setting through cross-appointments, collaborations, and its physical location within the Soroka Medical Center.
