Overview

The Department of Physiology and Neurobiology is a part of the Basic Sciences Division in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The goal of the Department is to drive forward new research areas that profit from multidisciplinary approaches, from molecular biology to integrative physiology of mammalian systems. Research in the department is currently grouped into two main themes: 1) The majority of Dept members explore issues in basic Neuroscience, from mechanisms of operation of single neurons to sensory perception and the function of large neuronal networks. 2) Other researchers study molecular aspects of ionic transporters and channels in the membranes of cells in various organ systems.
