Prof. Sharon Pardo was appointed President of the Israeli Association for International Studies during the Association's annual conference, which took place last week at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, while Dr. Hila Zahavi, director of The Simone Veil Research Centre for the Study of European Politics and Society​​​ was appointed as Secretary-General.

"We are very proud to lead this important association in the name of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and to work to promote research and teaching relating to International Studies," commented the new President and Secretary-General.

The Israeli Association for International Studies (IAIS) is an independent and apolitical association, which encompasses academic staff, researchers, practitioners, and research students from Israeli institutions of higher education. The IAIS was established to promote and engage with the issues relating to teaching and researching in the field of international studies, as well as to strengthen the dialogue between academia and the policy and security communities in Israel. It promotes several fields including diplomacy and foreign policy, national security, conflict resolution and peace research, human rights, comparative politics and more.

The Association is a member of the World International Studies Committee (WISC).

Prof. Pardo is the former chair of the Department of Politics and Government and the chair of the Simone Veil Research Centre, the only National Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in Israel and holds the only Jean Monnet Chair ad personam in European Integration Studies in Israel.
