Dr. Muhammad Bashouti (pictured above) will guest edit a special issue of the journal Nanomaterials on a topic that he proposed, Molecular Interfaces Based Nanotechnology. The journal has an impact factor of 4.034, which puts it in the top 11.4% of tracked journals.

Dr. Bashouti is a new researcher in the Alexandre Yersin Department of Solar Energy and Environmental Physics (YDSEEP), part of the Swiss Institute for Dryland Environmental and Energy Research, Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research on BGU's Sede Boqer Campus. He is also a member of The IlSe Katz Institute for Nanoscale Science & Technology on the Marcus Family campus. His research interests include: Molecular Electronics, Hybrid Devices, Surfaces Dominated Materials, Surface Functionalization & Characterization, and Charge Transfer at Surfaces.

The special issue, which is set to be published in 2021, will focus on the challenges of fabricating nanoscale molecular electronics circuits. Such circuits could be used as molecular logic gates, for quantum computing, hybrid devices, and memory devices. Such applications could presage a new generation of devices based on molecules which offer more functionality than the current generation.
