Dr. Richard (Rick) Coughlin is Professor Emeritus in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He is Chairman Emeritus of Orthopaedics Overseas, founding division of Health Volunteers Overseas a non-governmental organization (NGO) whose goal is advancing musculoskeletal healthcare worldwide through volunteerism with an emphasis on teaching and training.
