Discussing Science, Philosophy, and Ideology

The Jacques Loeb Centre for the History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences invites students from all departments to participate in our discussion meetings, starting in November 2021.

We will meet twice a month to discuss selected essays or book chapters. We will choose from a wide range of philosophical texts, including Aristotle, Bacon, Whewell, Mach, Bohr, Heisenberg, Popper, Polanyi, Hacking, Pearl, and Nye.

We will begin with the essay by Isaiah Berlin "The Hedgehog and the Fox: An Essay on Tolstoy's View of History".

The meetings will take place on Wednesdays at 17.00 in our seminar room (-112) in the National Institute for Biotechnology in the Negev (#39)

The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, 3 November 2021.

Refreshments will be served.
