We are pleased to invite you to cover the launching event of the Cultural Diplomacy Forum (CDF) - "Cultural Diplomacy and Eurovision 2019: between Diversity, Culture and Diplomacy". The conference is held with the support and cooperation of the European Union Delegation to Israel and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Cultural Diplomacy Forum was established by researchers from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in order to create a space for discussion on various aspects related to cultural diplomacy. The Forum aims to serve as a bridge between academia, policymakers and diplomats, the public and private sector, engaged in fields of cultural diplomacy.

The first conference of the forum will be dedicated to launching the Cultural Diplomacy Forum, introduce our partners who are working in the fields of culture and diplomacy, and put a spotlight on cooperation in the arena of cultural diplomacy. The conference will focus on the wide-ranging uses of cultural diplomacy in the international arena and the various meanings behind related notions of communication, audience and actors. The Eurovision Song Contest, which is currently being held in Tel Aviv, will be a unique case study and a fascinating point of reference for the topics to be discussed at the conference. The rendezvous offers an innovative and unique format that emphasizes an inter-sectoral dialogue, in order to promote joint discussion, discourse, research and applied tools of cultural diplomacy.

The conference, which aims to shed light on cultural diplomacy from a wide range of points of view, will be held on Wednesday, 19/6/2019. First and foremost, we would like to explore and understand the potential of culture, art, music and other cultural instruments, as diplomatic tools for fostering mutual understanding and building trust between international audiences. Speakers include former and present Foreign Ministry officials, diplomats from around the world who serve in Israel, academics from Israel and abroad who explore the field from various disciplinary angles, cultural figures, artists, curators, marketing professionals, branding experts and senior executives in the business sector. Each of the parties will have the opportunity to discuss the subject both internally (in designated panels) and jointly in roundtables. The event aims to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders in the cultural diplomacy field by fostering cooperation between the cultural, diplomatic, academic and business spheres.

The event will be open to the public.
