Israel to be Represented by Honors MBA program (HMBA) students from the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business & Management at the John Molson MBA International Case Competition in Montreal.
 
CASE.pngFor the 4th consecutive year, CABGU is extremely proud to support 5 BGU Ho​n​ors MBA Program HMBA students and their coaches by funding the entire team participation to this major competition. It provides them a wonderful opportunity to develop many competencies that are crucial for business leaders and enjoy a unique and remarkable educational experience. The competition is held at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel, downtown Montreal from January 5-10, 2014.
 
The John Molson MBA Internatio​nal Case Competition is a not-for-profit event organized by a team of four MBA students from the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. The competition is open to top business schools worldwide, and is recognized as the largest competition of its kind. Its main purpose is to bridge the gap between corporate and academic worlds, which ultimately enriches both students and executives alike.
 
The competition format is a round-robin tournament consisting of five business cases. The cases are selected from among the top entries from the annual Case Writing Competition. One of these cases is a live case presentation by a major company about a real-life business challenge that they are currently facing.
 
An Educational Experience Unlike Any Other
With three hours to prepare, teams of four students analyze and evaluate unpublished business cases using the skills, knowledge and experience they have acquired from their respective MBA curricula. Students rely on their own abilities as they are without the aid of tools such as PowerPoint and the internet. The final product is a hand written presentation that demonstrates the students' ability to dig into the problem and develop a feasible solution. Once preparation is complete, they present their strategic solutions and a detailed plan of action to a panel of senior business executives.

The HMBA team from Ben-Gurion University will return for the fourth consecutive year and try to outdo their previous top ten finishes. CABGU, Montreal Region, have undertaken the task of covering the team’s expenses. The competition is implemented in cooperation with senior faculty members at Columbia University Business School, New York.

Coach
David M. Brock teaches Strategy and International Management at the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management, BGU; and is an International Research Fellow at SAID Business School, Oxford University. He is a graduate of the University of South Africa, the University of Cape Town, and North Carolina State University. Prior to moving to Israel in 2002, David taught at the University of Auckland Business School and at North Carolina State University. He is founding Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Professions and Organization (Oxford University Press) and currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Management Studies, Journal of International Management, and the International Journal of Emerging Markets. Dr. Brock’s research areas include planning in multinationals and their subsidiaries, global strategy, the international diversification of professional service firms, capability building in globalizing service firms, and institutional changes in the professions.

Meital Magid is a private consultant, who works with start-ups and small & medium businesses, focusing on Business Development, Strategy and Marketing. Meital worked as an associate for leading Israeli Strategic firm TASC, consulting and developing business strategies for top management of the key players in the Israeli Market and abroad. Later on, Meital joined Bank Ha’poalim top management as a retail strategy project manager, responsible for developing retail banking solutions, and carrying them out to a full implementation. Meital graduated from the Honors MBA program 3 years ago, and also holds a B.A. in Management and Economics from Ben-Gurion University.
 
Amos Efrony is a recent graduate of the Honors MBA program in the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business & Management at Ben-Gurion University. Amos holds a B.A. in Management and Economics, also from BGU. For the past 11 years Amos has served in the Israeli Air Force, currently as a major. During his career Amos has experienced various management roles, including Project Manager in a wide range of long-term projects. Amos is currently positioned as the Knowledge Management Officer of the Israeli Air Force. In the future, Amos aspires to pursue a career in international project management, particularly in the field of renewable energy and agricultural technological solutions.
 
Yoel Fink is a recent graduate of the HMBA program. Prior to his MBA studies, Yoel graduated with honors from the Jerusalem-based Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, with a B.F.A in Fine Arts from the department of photography. Yoel’s career began in the Israeli Air Force where he served as a Major. In the past 5 years, Yoel gained managerial experience as a team leader and project manager in the hi-tech industry and as a founder and owner of an art gallery in Jerusalem. Yoel is fluent in English and Hebrew and is currently pursuing a career in operations management and international development.
 
Mor Rahimi is a recent graduate of the HMBA program. She received her B.A. in Political Science and Business Management, also from BGU, where she graduated with honors. Prior to her studies, she completed her army service as a company commander in an officers’ training course. During her graduate studies, she worked in a non-profit organization that provided individuals with knowledge and assistance in the field of domestic financial management. Mor is fluent in English and Hebrew, and is currently pursuing a career in public relations and international marketing and communications.
 
Tamir Richker is a recent graduate of the HMBA program. Tamir holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics, also from BGU. During his graduate studies, Tamir worked in film and TV production as a Production Manager. Tamir currently works for Israel Chemicals LTD as an economist in the project development department.
 
Ayelet Shachar-Epstein is a recent graduate of the Honors MBA program at Ben-Gurion University. Ayelet has a B.A. in Communications and Management from Tel-Aviv College of Management. During the past 12 years, Ayelet has built her career as a sales and marketing manager and as a CMO in the industrial sector, accumulating experience negotiating with large multi-national customers. Currently, Ayelet serves on the Board of Directors of two public companies with broad global activities. Ayelet is fluent in both English and Hebrew, and is pursuing a career in international marketing and business development.
