The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Institute
for Social Leadership in the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business
and Management was founded in the spirit of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev’s
philosophy of commitment to social and environmental responsibility, responding
to the specific challenges of the Negev region.
The Institute is dedicated to conducting
research and instruction promoting the study and advancement of the third
sector. All programs seek to provide students with the most advanced and
rigorous training, in order to enable them to face current and future
challenges in light of the dynamic nature of the business world.
The Institute’s flagship program is the singular Mandel Social Leadership MBA Program, which has acquired a solid reputation
as a program of excellence, striking just the right balance between management
studies, leadership and third sector issues.
The Institute also comprises the Israel Center for Third Sector Research (ICTR), the Department of Public Policy & Administration, and will soon offer executive training
programs.
Above all, the creation of the Mandel Institute is the
result of a unique model of collaboration developed over a number of years with
the Jack,
Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation, in itself a strong body that
has formulated many initiatives in the field of social and educational
leadership.
"May this provide a fitting environment for students and faculty to acquire advanced
management knowledge, and broaden the scope of research in the fields of social
responsibility, thereby enhancing their leadership skills and becoming more
involved and deeply committed to making a changes in their communities." [from the Institute's Foundation Scroll, interred during the cornerstone-laying ceremony.]
We extend our thanks
to the members of the Mandel Family for this generous gift and for their dedication
to nurturing the Negev and the State of Israel for the benefit of all humankind.
