Study entrepreneurship in a growing economy - in Brazil!

The Bengis Center for Entrepreneurship and Hi-Tech Management at the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management (GGFBM) has expanded its activity to expose students in study and in practice to global markets. Its lead activity is a unique seminar of the GGFBM "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in a Growing Economy: Brazil." The seminar will be held in collaboration with the GGFBM Bengis Center, the University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR), the Federal University of Ceare (UFC) and the state's industrialists association. During their visit to the state capital, students will attend lectures given by the local university, visit professional sites and take part in discussions with local industrialists, entrepreneurs and government officials. Students will spend a week in Brazil and experience the dynamics first-hand.

While the seminar is part of the MBA track in Entrepreneurship and
Hi-Tech Management, it is also offered to students of the Department of Business Administration and of the Department of Public Policy and Administration.

"Today's worldwide business environment is changing," says Prof. Dafna Schwartz, head of the MBA track in Entrepreneurship and
Hi-Tech Management and the Director of Bengis Center. "We're seeing a time of global changes and growth, led to a large extent by emerging markets. Our job is to prepare the next generation of directors to operate in these markets. Therefore, the courses are structured to incorporate practical experience, field trips and other educational activities supported by The Bengis Center."

Prof. Rafi Bar-El of the GGFBM Department of Public Policy and Administration will be the main lecturer for the seminar. Prof. Bar-El, who has extensive experience in emerging markets, particularly those in Brazil, says: "The goal of this seminar is to examine existing models, means and experience involved in promoting activity in such markets through direct communication with entrepreneurs, industrialists and decision makers. As a country undergoing rapid growth processes (one of the four BRIC countries) it is an interesting case study, relevant to achieving the goals of this course."

Prof. Amos Drory, Chairman of the Bengis Center and BGU Vice President for External Affairs adds that this unique seminar is a significant addition to the international activity in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship the Bengis Center has been promoting in recent years. "It enables various ties, not only between Ben-Gurion University and other leading academic institutes, but also for students who are being exposed directly to important content and to receiving tools that will benefit them later as leaders in the job market."
