Aviv Steren Chosen
to Participate in the prestigious Chicago Forum on Global Cities
GGFBM
student Aviv Steren will be participating in the prestigious Chicago Forum on Global Cities, in May this year. Aviv is a graduate student in the Honors
Research Program of the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business & Management,
an interdisciplinary degree: completing her masters degree in the Department of
Business Administration, her research is under joint supervision of Dr. Stav
Rosenzweig from the Department of Management, and Dr. Ofir Rubin From the Department of
Public Policy and Administration. Aviv is already preparing for the doctoral
program at the GGFBM.
Aviv’s
research focuses on energy consumption and environmental sustainability.
Her work seeks to explore and
measure the unintended consequences of energy and
environmental policy. Due to the timely and interdisciplinary nature of this topic,
her work raises considerable interest in several realms of research. Aviv has
already presented her research in two national conferences in Israel (in
geography and business administration), and in a major international conference
in Italy in the field of energy economics. In addition, her research provided
solid grounds for several research grant proposals. Results of her research are
likely to be published soon in leading journals.
Aviv
is a captain in the IDF and serves in reserve duty when called to operations
under rocketfire in the region, challenging but not obstructing her devotion to
her research ambitions.
Aviv's achievement, in fact, is quite extraordinary, garnishing the Lehavim Award for Outstanding Students in 2014, the BGU Scholarship for Interdisciplinary Research in 2013, The Masters Scholarship in the Honors Research Program
at the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management also in 2013, and The Geography
and Environmental Development Department Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding
Students (2011)
Aviv
possesses exceptional outstanding analytical skills. She personally identifies
with sustainability and energy conservation, and believes in the ability of her
research to contribute to society and to sustainable environment.
“Aviv
will significantly contribute in stimulating discussion at the Chicago Forum
on Global Cities,” comments Prof. Oded Lowengart, GGFBM Dean, “she is the
perfect choice from BGU to have been nominated.”
