Department of Management
Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management

My life before BGU:

I was born and raised in Holon. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in physical chemistry from the Technion. I was fascinated by the idea of reaching the same kind of equilibrium in financial markets as can be achieved in chemical reactions, so I went on to study financial economics for my master’s and PhD degrees, at Ben-Gurion University’s Department of Business Administration.

Why BGU?

BGU became a second home during my graduate studies. The University has a combination of a drive for excellence, outstanding research, and a warm supportive environment. The Department of Management brings together first-rate researchers who are also wonderful and inclusive human beings. The Faculty of Business and Management is undergoing exciting growth and has a dynamic atmosphere. All these reasons simply add up to a winning combination.

My research:

My areas of interest are financial economics and technological entrepreneurship: I analyze data to answer economic questions. I study reciprocal relations between different financial markets, such as stocks, bonds, and derivatives; the effects of immigration on macro-economic principles; and startups based on collaborations between local entrepreneurs and immigrants, using advanced econometric tools and big data analysis in order to improve our understanding of their effects on macroeconomic stability and regulation.

I recently published together with my partner an article focused on manipulative interactions, between financial markets at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. We analyzed some 81 million transactions, proving the existence of patterns of manipulative transactions, and drew important conclusions aimed at increasing overall wellbeing aimed at regulators.

An insight from my research:

An in-depth understanding of the reciprocal relations between financial markets and deriving the right conclusions could lead to greater macroeconomic stability and overall wellbeing.

Something that doesn't appear on my CV:

I love travelling, mountain biking, running, diving and playing Settlers of Catan.

A source of inspiration:

My grandfathers and grandmothers who made aliya alone at a young age, facing a range of challenges in making the desert bloom, and succeeded.

When I grow up:

As a child I wanted to play the accordion, to make people dance and be happy. Today I love listening to music, and generally anything that feeds the soul – and aspire to improve our understanding of macroeconomic stability.

If I wasn’t a researcher, I would...

Run a profession horse stable that offers therapeutic riding.
