Department of Public Health
Faculty of Health Sciences
My life before BGU:
I was born and raised in Haifa. When I was a teenager, we moved to the US, where I graduated from high school. My degrees are in statistics – my BA is from Haifa University and my MSc and PhD from Tel-Aviv University. I did my postdoc at the Weizmann Institute of Science and at Stanford University, studying statistical methodologies in the analysis of genomic data.
"Every dataset presents its own challenges … If we tailor our preprocessing and analysis precisely, while ensuring the quality of the data, we will get the most reliable results."

My research:
I develop methodologies for complex large-scale data analysis of health records, clinical data, and bio-molecular data, based on powerful statistical testing and error rate control.
Why BGU?
Aside from admiring the desert… The Department of Public Health at Ben-Gurion University hosts research on a variety of topics, with an emphasis on methodology and an openness to recent innovations related to biomedical data.
An insight from my research:
Every dataset presents its own challenges … If we tailor our preprocessing and analysis precisely, while ensuring the quality of the data, we will get the most reliable results.
Something that doesn't appear on my CV:
I like current affairs and really enjoy listening to news on the radio first thing in the morning…
A source of inspiration:
My PhD supervisor, who taught me the work of research; and my mother, who taught me to aim high.
When I grow up:
As a child I loved writing, so I thought I would become a writer or a journalist. But I have always also liked science and numbers, and it seems that now they all interact in my work.
If I wasn’t a researcher, I would...
Do something else around research...
