My life before BGU:
I was born and raised in the village of Mu'awiya. I completed my undergraduate degree in the molecular biochemistry track at the Technion, in the Faculties of Chemistry and Biology. I also did my MSc degree at the Technion's Faculty of Biology, and for my doctoral degree I went to Université Paris-Saclay (University of Paris XI). I then went to UC San Francisco for postdoctoral studies. I spent the last year in Rennes in the west of France as a junior researcher.

My research:
Cells are like a factory composed of different departments (organelles), with each department performing specific unique functions. I am interested in understanding how organelles of cancer cells communicate with each other and how this is different from non-cancerous cells. We recently discovered a new mechanism for communication between the organelles, which is very active in cancer cells (in breast cancer, lung cancer and brain cancer), and believe that inhibiting this mechanism can inhibit the development of cancer cells.
Why BGU?
There are many reasons to come to BGU: The research environment in the Department of Life Sciences is supportive and fruitful. And additionally, Beer-Sheva was my wife’s second home for many years during her own studies.
An insight from my research:

I really love cooking and travelling.
A source of inspiration:
My family, and especially my mother, who despite everything she has been through always had something to teach me about life.
