Entrepreneurship on the BarThe Bengis Center for Entrepreneurship and Hi-Tech Management of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev invites entrepreneurs, programmers, developers, designers and those in hi-tech to take part in the unique events to be held in conjunction with leading promoters of innovation – IBM, Google, EMC, JVP, Wix, Intel, “Young Entrepreneurs” organization, Maof (the agency for small businesses in the Ministry of the Economy), the Rothschild Cube, the Milbat NGO and more. The events will take place as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) November 16-27, 2014 in Beer-Sheva. 
 
Prof. Dafna Schwartz, Director of the Bengis Center, “The Bengis Center works to promote an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in general, and specifically in the Negev, through a wide variety of projects, activities and unique events. The GEW events offer students, faculty, hi-tech personnel, entrepreneurs and techies the opportunity to be exposed to varied worlds of content, to receive applied tools, to give and receive feedback on ideas, to create fertile ground for collaborations and more. All of the activities are held in collaboration with leading partners in the business and public sectors, a tool which, in and of itself, is of great importance in empowering the region and strengthening the innovation-entrepreneurial culture. These activities address a variety of fields, such as initiatives to assist the disabled, pinpoint initiatives from the economic development of the region and a hackathon in the field of wearable technology. These activities once again reinforce the great commitment of the University to develop the region and the general community.”
 
WearSheva Hackathon
An event that provides a meeting point for programmers, developers, designers, hi-tech personnel and more, focusing on wearable technology. It is a 26-hour marathon lead by the Bengis Center and GDG, sponsored by Wix, Intel,  Google and JVP. WearSheva will enable participants to consult with professional mentors, hear guest lectures and compete for valuable prizes. The Hackathon will take place in an advanced computerized environment that will include wearable technology, testing equipment, 3-D printers and more.

'Think Good, Do Good'Life-Changing Technologies
The Milbat NGO assists people with disabilities, including children, adults and the elderly. Together with the Bengis Center, they will present the connection between product development for the disabled and the elderly and hi-tech entrepreneurship. The event will be held in the presence of Social Welfare Minister MK Meir Cohen and BGU President Prof. Rivka Carmi. Innovative projects will be presented and short lectures offered. Milbat will also launch an application it created that prevents the elderly from falling and announce the winners of the “Think Hard 2” competition.

‘The Negev Making Its Way onto Israel’s Innovation Map’
The IDF is moving south and multinational corporations and investors creating start-ups are arriving – all are part of the process of integrating the Negev into the Israeli hi-tech field. A panel will attempt to determine how to fulfill this great potential. Prof. Dafna Schwartz will moderate the panel. Panel participants include: Prof. Dan Blumberg, BGU VP and Dean R&D; Yoav Tzruya, JVP Partner and CEO of JVP Cyber Labs; Maya Hoffman Levy, head of EMC’s Center of Excellence in Beer-Sheva;Adva Eshel Rabinowitz, Senior branch head at the Negev and Galilee Development Ministry and others.
 
During the event, the “Business Management in Israel” Project of the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management will be presented and the winners of the social-economic business plan competition “From Idea to Business” will be announced.

‘Entrepreneurship, Let’s Not Leave it in the Drawer’ – Entrepreneurship by the Bar
A successful integration of deep discussions and a glass of beer. This event will help you release your inner entrepreneur, with the help of people who have ‘done it’, whose sole purpose is to help you succeed. You’ll learn how to take that idea out of the drawer, dust it off and turn it into a business. In cooperation with the “Young Entrepreneurs” organization.

‘Activism: Another Direction for Entrepreneurship’ – It’s Time For a Change
An event that will connect two topics rarely discussed together, whose connection can make a difference – activism and entrepreneurship. A panel of activists will share the stage to assist participants in making a difference and discuss the entrepreneurial aspect of the field of activism.
