Yael Shmaryahu-Yeshurun, a doctoral student in BGU's Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management GGFBM and a graduate of its Social Leadership MBA, is one of 10 recipients of the Israel President Scholarship.
This is a competitive scholarship for excellence and scientific innovation in the amount of NIS 150,000 for each recipient, for outstanding doctoral students whose work deals with "sovereign, sovereignty and peace - national, religious and community tensions in Israel and the means to resolve them peacefully. The framework of the topic is directed at research in both internal and external aspects of the concept of sovereignty in its theoretical, institutional and historical significance, and their connection to decision making processes anchored in solidarity and the aspiration to achieve political and social peace. The subject of Yael's research is Settlement Policy in the Periphery: Between Neo-Liberalism and Nationalism, which deals with the policy of ideological settlement in the periphery, its goals and its implications for the relations between residents and settlers, as an expression of the link between nationalism and neoliberalism.
