About eighty students from the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management GGFBM Executive MBA Program attended the meeting of the Executive Club on Thursday.
Guest Lecturer, Mr. Uri Barkan - CEO of Sigmabit-Elbit Systems, presented a lecture on the topic of management dilemmas in the start-up process, such as: The main challenges faced by the manager in establishing a company, the importance of effective communication in management, how much managerial energy for the CEO to invest, internal needs (for example development) versus external (for example marketing), and ways of dealing with mistakes and failures.
"I aimed bringing practical dilemmas from my experience of the last few years as CEO, and I hope the students have benefited from this and enjoyed it as much as I do," concludes Uri Barkan.
Prof. Ofer Azar, Academic Head of the MBA Executive Program, noted the importance of the meeting: “Uri discussed with the students the real dilemmas of the CEO, presented his worldview on what's required of a successful company and gave the students recommendations on how to deal with managerial decisions."
Uri Barkan, who holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics and a master's degree in physics, both from Tel Aviv University, has served as CEO of Sigmabit-Elbit Systems at Beer Sheva's high-tech park for about five years. To that end, Uri relocated his family from Tel Aviv to Beer Sheva, which he notes at every opportunity as a recommendation to other company executives who work in the area. Uri is a member of the Advisory Committee of the GGFBM.
The Executive Club of the GGFBM MBA Executive Programs, now in its eighth year, is a lecture and discussion meeting with industry leaders and executives. An important component of the meetings is the social networking time after the lecture, with the lecturer and guests.
