On Jan. 5 the students of the BGU Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management Mandel Social Leadership MBA Program (SLMBA) will arrive at Duke University, N. Carolina, for their 5-day final-seminar "Between Leadership and Social Leadership." This final course is part of the SLMBA curriculum, each year exposing the students to leading lecturers of the field in a different country, in addition to the regular curriculum of visiting lecturers from around the world.
This year the SLMBA class will be accompanied not only by their academic Chairman Prof. Pierre Kletz, but also by GGFBM Dean Prof. Oded Lowengart, because of the growing relationship with Duke University.
SLMBA Program Academic Chairman Prof. Pierre Kletz views the Mandel SLMBA Program final seminar at Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy Center for Strategic Philanthropy and Civil Society to be highly significant for the students, as they will be meeting the academics at a world "mecca" of philanthropy studies.
Prof. Lowengart regards this "unusual amalgamation of disciplines comprising social leadership, philanthropy, business management, public policy as the intrinsic innovativeness at the core of the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management in particular, and of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in general. These degree studies in the realm of philanthropy and leadership are still considerably new in academia worldwide, found in a variety of faculties from social work to business to law. As such, the Mandel Social Leadership MBA Program is proving in its first years to be a frontrunner. Our program, firmly and expressly placed among the departments of business and management, is developing into an exemplary one that leading international lecturers and academic institutions are taking note and taking interest in joint programs and research."
During their time at Duke, the students, Prof. Kletz and Prof. Lowengart will also be meeting with Former Gov. Hunt at the Hunt Library where they will tour and also hold lectures. All lecturers and meetings are with most distinguished personalities in the field. They will also be holding an informal dinner discussion with students of the Duke University Fuqua School of Business as well as with Duke School of Law students.
"So as you see: this extraordinary combination, collaboration of many disciplines is happening most consummately at the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management, in the Mandel Social Leadership MBA Program," summarizes Prof. Lowengart.
