Department of Education
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
My life before BGU:
I completed a bachelor’s degree in sociology and philosophy and a master’s degree in sociology at Tel Aviv University. I studied for my doctoral degree at Rutgers University in the US, where I researched the implementation of educational policies in schools. I arrived at BGU following a postdoc at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

My research:
I study the implementation of educational policy in schools and the relationship between parents and the education system. I am interested in learning how policies and guidelines, governmental and political priorities, and trends in education are transformed into reality for parents, students, teachers, and principals. I also look at how the results of the same policy vary between schools. For my PhD I studied elementary schools in New York City, where a policy of economic integration (students from different economic backgrounds are integrated in schools) had been implemented, and explored what made the policy a success, how families felt about the school, and school policies on various subjects.
Why BGU?

An insight from my research:
Suspend judgement, listen before speaking. Being a [good] person is all in the details.
Something that doesn't appear on my CV:
In recent years, the most important things in my life that aren’t written in my CV are my two children…
A source of inspiration:
My late father-in-law.
When I grow up:
As I child I thought I might become a veterinarian or journalist. Today… I hope to have an effect on the education system in addition to studying it?
If I wasn’t a researcher, I would...
Practice law…
