Title: Contemporary Thoughts on Blockchain Technologies and Virtual Currencies

Abstract:

Blockchain Technologies and the virtual currency Bitcoin are often confused by laypeople exposed to these two revolutionary assets we all became familiar with only very recently.

Bitcoin and the other digital currencies represent an opportunity to re-visit the value of 'money', it's utilization in current economies and the role these new assets may play in a futuristic new construct of the economic world. I will share with you my journey since obtaining my first digital asset.

It is often easier to explain Blockchain technologies through the example of Bitcoin yet this does great disservice to opening people (and scientists') minds to the huge unfolding opportunities brought about by Blockchain technologies. With Blockchain, we shall not have to wait as long as we had waited for the Internet to change our lives:

tangible game-changers in almost every field – from medicine to supply chains, legal frameworks, communication and politics – will present challenging decision-making on the one hand, and on the other – a new world order, which will eliminate many of the “intermediators' we know today saving everyone money and time.

This presentation will highlight my analysis and experiences in developing an Israeli Blockchain ecosystem with eyes to the future. I will also raise the question: can we do better when industry and academia work together?
