Earlier this week; BGU awarded Alumni Recognition Awards to prominent alumni who have made important, unique and influential contributions to society, economy, culture or science in Israel or abroad. Seven alumni, accompanied by friends and family received the awards at a ceremony held in the Sara Tadmor Auditorium.

BGU President Prof. Rivka Carmi welcoming the audience said: "Our young University has more than 110,000 graduates, today’s award recipients prove that they carry the spirit of Ben-Gurion University with them and I trust that they will continue to do so.”

The recipients of the award are

Dr. Mohammed Al-Nabari has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and is Head of Hura Local Council

Colonel Dr. Tarif Bader has degrees in Medicine and Health Systems Management and is Chief Medical Officer of the Israel Defense Forces

Orna Barbivai has a degree in Behavioral Sciences and is former head of the IDF’s Manpower Directorate (Major-General in the IDF reserves)

Prof. Ami Moyal is a graduate of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and is President of Afeka College of Engineering

Dana Porter Rubenstein has a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management and is co-founder and CMO at Inception VR

Dr. Yair Schindel has a degree in medicine and is former CEO of the “Digital Israel” project in the Office for Social Equality

Dr. Heftzi Zohar has a Ph.D. in Chemistry, is Deputy Mayor and holds the Education portfolio in Beer-Sheva Municipality
