BGU and the University of Mumbai have signed two Memoranda of Understanding during the visit of an Israeli delegation, led by President Reuven Rivlin, to India to encourage such collaborations. BGU President Prof. Rivka Carmi signed on behalf of the University, alongside University of Mumbai Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjay V. Deshmukh.

The agreements include provisions for general collaboration, as well as a joint PhD program. According to the new agreement, doctoral students can apply to both universities (they must have an advisor at each university) and split their time between the two. Their diploma will reflect the fact that they have studied at both universities.
