​​​​Special Opportunity for Early Career Scholars/ Postdoctoral Fellowship (September 2025 – June 2027)

The Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies and the Center for the Study of Conversion and Inter-Religious Encounters at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (CSoC) will offer a two-year fellowship for early career scholars without a tenure track position. The ​first year (September 2025 to April 2026) will be spent at Katz Center in Philadelphia and devoted to New Frontiers in Contemporary Jewish Life: Cultural Expansions, Encounters, and Experiments. The second-year fellowship (October 2026 – June 2027), will be spent at Center for the Study of Conversion and Inter-Religious Encounters in Beer Sheva, Israel, in the context of a different cohort, on the wider theme of New Frontiers in Contemporary Religious Life.

​CSoC fellows will be provided with a stipend of 100,000NS and affordable housing in Beer Sheva, a shared workspace in the Center's offices, full library privileges, an affiliation with a vibrant group of scholars, and intellectual and social support from peers and senior researchers. Fellows will be required to conduct their research on the Marcus campus in Be'er Sheva at least once a week, attend weekly seminars and reading groups (routinely held on Tuesdays 12:00-14:00), and participate in conferences, book launches, excursions, and group meetings. They will be expected to present their work to other members, and to fulfill an active role in planning the Center's various activities for the year (before the actual beginning of the academic year).

The admission to the two-year program will be made on the basis of the application focused on New Frontiers in Contemporary Jewish Life: Cultural Expansions, Encounters, and Experiments, with the addition of a summary of the applicant's PhD thesis (up to 1000 words) to the otherwise required research proposal, two letters of recommendation and CV.
