Application Process
All of our master's degree students work side-by-side with an academic advisor throughout the course of their program, culminating in a written thesis. Please contact potential advisors (the list can be found here) in a field relevant to your research interests. We recommend sending them your CV and transcripts (with an explanation of your university's grading system and GPA) when you introduce yourself.
After you have contacted a faculty member and s/he agress to be your advisor, please complete the following:
1. Formal BGU online application form.
International applicants: If you were previously a BGU student, please make sure to use your BGU student ID number. Please note that to complete the application form, you must pay an initial $25 application fee. Students who are accepted to Ben-Gurion University are required to pay an additional $75 processing fee, for a total payment of $100.
Hebrew application (for Isreaeli students)
**Please note that when applying to AKIS's M.Sc. programs, you must select “The Jacob Blaustein Institutes for
Desert Research” under the “Faculty” field on the "Registration preferences” tab of the BGU online application form.
**Additionally, the fields for “Proposed Advisor/s” and “Names of
Referees” are mandatory when applying to master’s degree programs in AKIS.
After completing the payment, you will receive a link to upload the documents listed below to the system. Uploading the documents is required to complete the BGU online application.
However, please skip the step of uploading the letters of recommendation. Instead, the letters of recommendation must be sent directly from the recommender to dschool@bgu.ac.il
* A certified copy of your diploma. If your documents are not in English, please also include an English translation that is either certified by the university or by a notary.
* Certified copies of your academic transcripts If your documents are not in English, please also include an English translation that is either certified by the university or by a notary.
Please note that upon arriving in Israel at the beginning of your studies, you must provide hard copies of your official certified academic transcripts and diploma.
* Curriculum Vitae
* A copy of the photo page of your passport (should be uploaded during the first part of the registration).
* A photo of yourself (passport size), which will be used for your student ID card, if you are accepted to the program.
2. In addition to the online application, we request that you send us (dschool@bgu.ac.il) the following documents:
* Two letters of recommendation along with the reference form, from academic supervisors/personnel (the recommender should send the letter directly to dschool@bgu.ac.il)
* Class rank if available (e.g., 5/25; you should send this directly to dschool@bgu.ac.il)
* Official copy of TOFEL examination score or IELTS examination score (you should send this directly to to be dschool@bgu.ac.il) if you graduated from a university in which the language of instrcution is not English. If you graduated from a university in which the language of instruction is English, please submit an English proficiency letter from the university.
3. Fill out the short internal AKIS registration form
4. Please contact us for housing application. If you make other accommmodation arrangements. please let us know.
All material should be submitted before the application deadlines listed below:
Semester: 1 (Fall Semester)
Appplication Deadline: July 1st
Semester: 2 (Spring Semester)
Application Deadline: January 1st
