Our mission is to advance knowledge in bio-medical sciences and make discoveries that will elucidate key principles in cellular and physiological function. Our goal is to provide knowledge that will improve human health and novel therapeutic approaches.
Revealing the fundamental mechanisms of human health is essential to form the basis for translational research and improve quality of life and clinical care. Our research utilizes cutting-edge technologies in Molecular, Cellular, Genetic and Physiological themes and aims to advance our knowledge and improve treatment of disease.
School Welcome
The School of Bio-Medical Research is embedded in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. We are a multidisciplinary research school that brings together leading scientists from the fields of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Immunology, Genetics, Pharmacology and Neuroscience.
Biomedical research paves the way to understanding fundamental processes that facilitate life and provides the scientific basis for biomedical applications and therapeutics. Excellent research in the school promotes discoveries of new targets for combating cancer, autoimmune disease, aging and neurological disorders. Our graduates can proceed to a career in academics, biotech and pharma industries, or clinical research.
Our research teams aim to understand structure and function of the basic units of life, proteins and cells, and spans into physiology and system biology. Collaborations with clinicians involved in health care via the Faculty of Health sciences research hubs offers unique opportunities to directly affect human health, aging and elucidate disease mechanisms.
