In the course of our study that dysfunction of the BBB can lead to epileptogenesis and neurodegeneration, we show that the FDA approved drug Losartan blocks brain TGF-b signalling and prevent epilepsy in models of epileptogenesis. We further show that Isoflurane, a common used anaesthetic, has neuroprotective and antiepileptic effect after status epilepticus.
