Physical systems can be tuned to degeneracies to enhance their response.
We will first consider degeneracies arising from the symmetry of a spherical structure, in which eigenvalues asymptotically coalesce. We will then talk about exceptional points at which both the eigenvalues and eigenstates coalesce, enabling additional waveforms to be captured. Finally, we will analyze the implications of these degeneracies to enhance absorption phenomena.    ​
