WHY CHOOSE TO STUDY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF COGNITIVE AND BRAIN SCIENCES?The department emphasizes the applied scientific aspects and the connection to the world of entrepreneurship and brain technologies. The department was the first to form a student community focused on brain-tech, which has since grown into a vibrant nationwide community that organizes a variety of events.
The department has a unique atmosphere. We believe that the social aspects of the academic experience are fundamental. We, therefore, provide personal attention, support, and guidance to our students, from graduate students, administrative staff, and academic faculty. Such close attention combined with the prosperous community life throughout BGU creates a rich social experience outside the classroom.
Brain-tech—the field of Brain technologies—is a rapidly growing field in the job market. The program, particularly in the computational track, pertains to developing skills in neuronal signal processing, data analysis, machine learning, and more—skills for which there is an increasing demand in the job market. All Brain Science researchers meet and conduct joint activities under the auspices of the School for Brain Sciences and Cognition. The campus is located adjacent to Soroka University Medical Center. This proximity offers a significant advantage in conducting research that calls for collaboration with researchers from the School of Medicine and the clinical departments in Soroka medical center. Additionally, this proximity allows access to its facilities for basic and clinical research, such as imaging devices.
