Where, What and When?
The Circulation Desk is located on the ground floor to the right of the library lobby.
Here you will find the Reserved Book Collection - books that have been moved from their regular locations and transferred to this collection at the request of an instructor or a librarian.
You will also find the Students Union Collection, where certain titles are available for semester-long loans in exchange for a small fee.
Circulation services are available throughout the library's is open.
How?
Books can be borrowed with the assistance of the circulation librarians or using the self-service circulation terminals that are located throughout the library. The use of the self-service system saves time. To activate the self-service circulation system, students need their student ID card and, as password, the PIN number which appears on the university tuition payment slip. To receive a password reminder, click here. Faculty and staff need their university ID card and, as password, their ID number.

Library Card:
Students: The student card issued by the Students' Association also serves as a library card.
Faculty and Staff: The employees' ID card doubles as a library card.
Renewed library card enables book loaning.
What actions can be performed in the BGUsearch (the library's online catalog)?
Check the due date of books you have checked out.
Check if a book you have requested has arrived.
Check a list of books you borrowed in the past.
Check if you owe fines to the library.
Check the status of your Inter-Library Loan requests.
To perform these actions, you are required to log in to the online system. How?
- In BGUsearch, press the login link at the top of the page and choose "My Library Card."
- Input your BGU credentials, as well as your ID number.
Loan Period:
Library materials are checked out for one week, two weeks, etc. depending on the item status. The loan period appears in BGUsearch along with the item's LC number.
The library collection includes many books that may not be checked out; they are for in-library use only. Among them is the Reserved Book collection located at the Circulation desk. Reserved books are for use in the library for a limited time only.
Renewals:
Automatic Renewal: The library's automatic renewal system renews books which are due to be returned – provided no “holds" have been placed on them. The reader can also renew his books using his online Library Card.
Requesting Books on Loan (Holds):
Holds can be placed only on books that have been checked out!
Holds can be placed in the BGUsearch.
Notification is sent via e-mail when the requested book becomes available. The status of a hold request can also be checked using your online Library Card in the BGUsearch.
Fines:
Fines are levied for late return.
The fines per day for each item returned late are:
A 7-day book: 8 NIS
A 7-day book that has been put on "hold": 12 NIS
A one-week or two-week book: 4 NIS
A one-week or two-week book that has been put on "hold": 8 NIS
A 1-day book: 12 NIS
A 2-hour-loan book: 12 NIS
