I received my Ph.D. from Columbia University in Political Science and I have been at Ben Gurion University since 1999. My research at this point focuses on three main areas of interest. The first has to do with the intersection of gender, women’s agency, and minority women. For the past two years I have been conducting original field research amongst minority women in Israel, examining the ways in which they narrate agency in everyday life focusing on their ability to make choices in the domains of employment, family life and politics. My second area of interest is the politics of memory, and here I focus on the shifts and changes in the memory of the Holocaust in Israel. Recently I have started researching counter-memory, examining the ways in which memory engenders political conflict. Finally, I continue to be interested in the ways in which states negotiate minority rights – including political, cultural and economic spheres of activity.
