Drylands occupy 41% of Earth's land area and are home to more than 2.2 billion people—about a third of the human population in the year 2015.
Desertification takes place worldwide in drylands, and its effects are experienced locally, nationally, regionally, and globally.
On this World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, we must do everything we can to combat desertification and to protect lands from erosion around the world.
Just ask the BIDR (The Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research) scientists who have found creative solutions to make our deserts bloom.
