Welcome to the department of Software and Information Systems Engineering (SISE) at Ben Gurion University (BGU) of the Negev. The department offers two programs: Information Systems Engineering (ISE) and Software Engineering (SE), in collaboration with Computer Science. The ISE program includes approximately five hundreds undergraduate and more than hundred graduate students.
We train high quality engineers that later take industry roles as developers, with specific emphases on algorithms, databases, design and analysis, and data-science more than any other engineering discipline. Our graduates can be found in a variety of companies in the industry, including top companies, such as Google, Microsoft, IBM, startups and more.
The information systems engineering curriculum is inter-disciplinary and includes, alongside classical information systems courses, a wide variety of courses in computer science, mathematics, statistics, operations research, engineering, economics, and management. In recent years, specific focus is on data-science, including courses in Data Mining and Machine Learning, Text Analytics and Retrieval, Artificial Intelligence, Temporal Data Mining, Visualization and more. Additionally, courses are given on specific important domains of applications, such as Information Security, Medical Informatics and more.
