In my lab, we are studying cognitive control, which refers to how people can guide their thoughts, actions, and emotional responses in a goal directed manner and why they fail in doing so. Cognitive control failures are a key feature in normal and abnormal development, in aging, psychopathology, and in maladaptive behavior following brain damage. We are using a variety of experimental paradigms to study this topic, such as task switching, dual task performance, stopping and inhibition, and working memory.
