Research/Collaboration

Faculty members in the department collaborate with researchers from other institutions, both in Israel and abroad.  Some examples include:
Professors Henik, Tzelgov and Berger, in conjunction with Dr. Orli Rubinstein of Haifa University, were awarded a grant from the ISF to establish a Center for Excellence (CNBNC) to study the neurocognitive basis of numerical cognition.  In 2012, Prof. Henik was also awarded the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Researcher Grant to pursue ground-breaking, high-risk projects examining the role of size perception and evaluation in numerical cognition.  
Prof. Nachshon Meiran leads a number of collaborative projects with the Israeli Defense Forces, including projects with the IDF Department of Behavioral Sciences and the Air Force.
Prof. Golan Shahar, along with Prof. Limor Aharonson, Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at BGU’s Recanati School for Community Health Professions and Dr. Hadar Shalev, M.D., from the Department of Psychiatry at BGU's Faculty of Health Sciences, co-direct PREPARED, a center that conducts research on depression, suicidality, and chronic physical pain, and the link between various forms of stress and physical and psychological well-being.
Dr. Ilan Dinstein, together with Dr. Gal Meiri from the Department of Early Childhood Development at Soroka Medical Center, leads the autism forum.  The forum includes neurologists, psychiatrists and other medical personnel and conducts research on autism. 
Prof. Gary Diamond, along with colleagues at the Center for Family Intervention Sciences in Drexel University (Professors Guy S. Diamond and Roger Kobak from the University of Delaware), conducts research on family-based treatment for depressed and suicidal adolescents.
Other faculty members in the department collaborate with colleagues at institutions around the world, including Rutgers University, Washington University, National Cheng Ku U. (Taiwan), Regensburg University (Germany), Yale University, Georgia State, University College London, University of Leuven, Florida State University, George Mason University, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, and others.
