My research interests and expertise are in the general field of Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering (GEE), branching out to both Soil Mechanics and Seismic Hazard Analysis (SHA). My group is studying source, path, and site-effects and developing advanced models to improve SHA in Israel, based on large empirical datasets, combined with physics-based simulation results. In addition, we are studying site-effects of the vertical ground-motion components, using empirical, numerical, and experimental techniques. Finally, the Soil Mechanics and Dynamics Laboratory (SMDL) is equipped with advanced GDS devices, to study the mechanics of soil response under different boundary and loading conditions.
