My main research interest is numerical cognition, from several angels:

(1) Magnitude perception and psychophysics: what are the the commonalities and the differences between processing discrete and numerical magnitudes? Using Stroop tasks and line location tasks, I am evaluating mental representations observed for these magnitudes, and comparing them with known psychophysical laws. In the future I will examine the relation between activation of different brain areas and the psychophysics functions in different comparison tasks, using fMRI.

(2) The development of numerical magnitudes in humans: we are developing a pictorial Stroop- like task in order to evaluate the ability of pre-school children to estimate magnitudes.

(3) The evolution of magnitude representation- the archer fish project: evaluating the ability of the archer fish to discriminate between different sizes, and comparing its performance to humans

In addition, together with Noga Cohen, we are investigating the influence of valence and self-relevance on bias in conceptual size.
