The Master's Program in Public Health (MPH) was launched in 2000, and offers two distinct tracks: clinical (without thesis) and research. In addition to learning the principles of epidemiological methods, the four semester program allows for specialization in clinical aspects of a wide spectrum of public health topics. These include health promotion and preventative care; prevention and control of infectious diseases; environmental health; nutritional epidemiology & chronic diseases; maternal and child health; and health systems management.
The clinical track (totaling 46 credits) is comprised of 10 required core courses and elective courses that depend on the student's specialization. The research track (totaling 45 credits) is comprised of required core courses, electives, a research seminar and thesis.
The Department also offers a special MPH program for medical students, culminating in an MD-MPH degree. The program, which students begin during their fourth year of medical school, totals 40 credits, and is comprises of required courses, electives and a research thesis.
Most of our MPH graduates are employed in academia and research institutes, in government, or in public health care systems. Many who work in non-academic settings maintain an interest in research and scientific publications. Our PhDs have been recruited as faculty members by universities and colleges in Israel and abroad.
