Farming in Forests​

Although modern agriculture is usually carried out in open fields, growing crops among trees - a method known as agroforestry - can be economically rewarding for small farmers. Researchers at the Blaustein Institutes are developing new techniques for dryland agroforestry and agriculture based on runoff water harvesting. Their expertise is aiding farmers and pastoralists in Israel, Kenya, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.​​​
