MBG map.jpgThe Sede Boqer Campus of Ben-Gurion University is an integral and important part of Midreshet Ben-Gurion, the community in which it is located.

Midreshet Ben-Gurion (known as the Midrasha) is the largest community in the Ramat Negev Regional Council. Communities including Kibbutz Sede Boqer, Kibbutz Mashabe-Sade, and Beer-Sheva lie to the north of the Midrasha while the town of Mitzpe Ramon and city of Eilat lies to the south.

Midreshet Ben-Gurion is situated in one of the most beautiful spots in the Negev Desert: The plateau of the central Negev is riven by the wide canyon of Nahal Tzin, and the Midrasha lies on the clifftop overlooking this spectacular biblical scene.

From the promenade at the edge of the canyon, the views are stunning and invite the visitor to descend into the canyon and discover its hidden secrets. There are many trails that will take you to beautiful spots all around the area.

The summer weather in Sede Boqer is hot and dry during the day but cool in the evening while in the winter the weather can be surprisingly cold.

Midreshet Ben-Gurion hosts the following educational and research institutes: The Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, The Ben-Gurion Institute for the Study of Israel and Zionism, The Ben-Gurion Heritage Institute, a high school for environmental education, a field school, an elementary school, and the IDF's Informational & Educational Center Unit.
