Germany remains among the most dominant players in European politics, economics and scientific research. Its capital, Berlin, continues to attract Israelis as a center of the arts, culture and business. Students interested in studying or working both in Austria or Germany or generally in Europe will largely benefit from a deep knowledge of German language, history and culture. Ben-Gurion University of the Negev invests considerable resources in the study of Western culture and offers a broad spectrum of courses related to the history, philosophy and arts of Europe as a whole. At the Center for Austrian and German Studies, the University promotes German language courses as well as the research and teaching of Central European history and culture.​
