Musculoskeletal diseases are associated with high pain levels, disability, and even death and are the most common reason patients seek medical care. The lab's principal objective is to research common musculoskeletal conditions, such as low back pain and spinal disorders, scoliosis, kyphosis, osteoarthritis, anterior knee pain, lateral epicondylalgia, sarcopenia, etc.

We promote clinical and epidemiological research to understand the mechanisms underlying musculoskeletal disorders. We test interventions to prevent and treat musculoskeletal conditions, including manual manipulative therapy, soft tissue mobilizations, dry needling, electrophysical agents, exercises, and psychosocial interventions.

An additional focus of research in our lab is urogenital physical therapy. We study epidemiology, risk factors, evaluation, and treatment methods for pelvic floor-related conditions, such as urinary and fecal incontinence, dyspareunia, sexual dysfunctions, and pelvic girdle pain.

The main focus areas include:

·       Physical therapy (manual therapy, exercises, electrophysical agents, and psychosocial interventions) for common musculoskeletal disorders.

·       Pelvic floor physical therapy in evaluation and treatment of common urogenital disorders.

·       Ultrasonography in pelvic floor and musculoskeletal evaluation.

·       Role of myofascial pain in musculoskeletal disorders. Myofascial pain evaluation and treatment.

·       Spinal pathologies: association between imaging and clinical symptoms.

·       Evaluation and treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain
