My research focuses on the role of public policy in improving environmental quality. Although most of my work considers Israel's environmental challenges, I am also very interested in how to make progress in development and combating desertification in Africa. Over the years I have considered a broad range of environmental issues: from air and water quality to forestry, open spaces, biodiversity, solid waste and environmental education. Recently, I completed a book that considers the issue of Israel's demographic history, the social and environmental effects of the country's high population density and policy reforms that can facilitate a transition to a sustainable and stable population levels. A fair amount of experience at the start of my career as a public interest environmental advocate informs my orientation which tends to be highly applied, seeking solutions that will useful for decision makers.
