Germany’s culture of remembrance is shifting: After the turn of the millennium, a postcolonial dynamic slowly began to develop in Germany; today, this dynamic has become highly conspicuous. It affects all aspects of the recent German history, including the remembrance of the Shoah and the memory of the Nazi era. Currently, the question of the relation between colonialism and the Shoah is discussed in the German public intensively. The talk deals with this complicated and in a way very German discussion.
