BGU-Bio-Innovation 2019 is a first of a kind conference designated for life science, biotechnology and biochemistry students. We came up with this initiative since we recognized that there are many interesting career opportunities for life science graduates in the industry which they are not aware of. Therefore, we decided to organize a meetup to explore the vibrant biotech industry in Israel.

Our goal is to introduce the biotech industry in Israel to BGU students, Israel is the start-up nation and leading innovation hub in life sciences, with more than 1,200 companies specializing in drug development in various research areas such as cancerous, metabolic, neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases, as well as life-science related areas such as medical devices, diagnostics, agro-tech and food-tech. There are an additional 500 companies in the field of digital health which combine life sciences with computer sciences.

The BGU-Bio-innovation 2019 agenda include various aspects of the industry, from ecology to agriculture to medicine. In addition, it also includes experts in the field of development and marketing. The lectures will be divided by the different fields.

BGU-Bio-innovation 2019 is a great opportunity for students to learn, meet and discuss with biotech entrepreneurs as well as industry veterans, distinguished professors and young scientists.

BGU combines great research in the arena of life sciences and supplies entrepreneurial infrastructure for students and academic staff. There are 37 faculty members at the department of life sciences, and many more involved in research in the faculty of health sciences and the department of biotechnology engineering.

The Yazamut 360° center at BGU facilitates educational skills that aims to develop a dynamic entrepreneurial-business environment that serves the entire university community and the Negev region. Their focus on entrepreneurship and connecting all the key players together results in an eco-system that is much greater than the sum of its parts.

Additionally, BGU is the auspice of The National Institute for Biotechnology in the Negev (NIBN), a unique, one of a kind in Israel, research institute with clear mission to conduct multi-disciplinary, applied and innovative biotechnological research and to lead the commercialization of novel technologies.
