The African Studies Program aims to strengthen studies in this area and turn BGU into a national center for related instruction and research. The program is based on a multidisciplinary approach that confers knowledge about the history, politics and culture of the African continent in different time periods and geographic locations. The curriculum is based on courses given by BGU faculty, along with those from other universities. In addition, the Program engages in an exchange program with other Israeli universities that offer African Studies.
The Program works closely with the Tamar Golan Africa Centre, which does not offer
academic courses, but organizes events, conferences and seminars. Scholarships are available through the Centre.
