Health Minister Yael German has appointed Prof. Gabi Bin Nun of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management to the advisory council on strengthening the public health system in Israel. Bin-Nun is a member of the Department of Health Systems Management which is a joint department of the two faculties.
 
Bin-Nun is a 30-year veteran of the Health Ministry, first as an economist in the Budget Department and finishing his career as deputy director general for economics and health insurance. He is a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s economics and political science departments and holds a degree from Brandeis’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management in health systems management.   
 
He was one of the architects of the national health insurance law which went into effect in 1995. 
 
Bin Nun has been teaching at BGU since 2008. His courses include: public finance, health economics, and the health system in Israel. 
 
He is one of the founders of The Israel National Institute for Health Policy and Health Services Research and sits on the institute’s board. He has sat and continues to sit on a number of public councils concerning health policy and the public health system in Israel.
