On Wednesday, March 29, a distinguished delegation from Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Morocco, led by its president Dr. Hicham El Habti, visited the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research (BIDR). The delegation was received by Professor Noam Weisbrod, the BIDR Director, who briefed them on studies conducted at the institutes on desertification, water scarcity, desert agriculture, renewable energy, ecosystem dynamics, dryland sustainability, and climate change. 

The delegation also met with Prof. Iris Visoly-Fisher, the Swiss Institute for Dryland Environmental & Energy Research, Prof. Amit Gross, the Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research Director, and Prof. Naftali Lazarovitch the Director of the French Associates Institute for Agriculture and Biotechnology of Drylands.  Prof. Iris Visoly-Fisher discussed solar energy and the progress in research; Prof. Gross described and demonstrated his research on microplastic transport in rivers and streams. Prof. Lazarovitch discussed a study underway at the institute's experimental winery on wine grape cultivation in arid regions.
